Volunteer Opportunities: Meadow Restoration

We’re looking for volunteers to help us get our native plant meadow ready for the season. We’ll be planting natives and removing invasive plant species. We’ll also be working on creating our winding meadow path, which will allow visitors to wander through sweeping drifts of ever-changing flowers, wild grasses, and the pollinators and birds they support. The finished project will not only offer aesthetic value but also an improved habitat for Sheldrake’s pollinators and other critters.

The meadow-restoration project will take place on multiple dates in May. Please use the registration link below to sign up. Currently scheduled dates/times are as follows:

Thursday, May 2 – 4:00-6:00 pm
Friday, May 3 – 4:00-6:00 pm
Saturday, May 4 – 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Wednesday, May 8 – 4:00-6:00 pm
Thursday, May 9 – 4:00-6:00 pm

Additional dates might be added; check back for updates or email scheduling@sheldrakecenter.org to express interest.

Please wear long pants, long sleeves, closed-toed shoes, and a hat, if desired. Depending on the weather, you may wish to apply sunscreen and/or bug spray before you arrive. Bring gardening gloves, if you have them, and a water bottle. Meet at the meadow, which is near the bench overlooking the pond.

This is a great way to earn community-service hours while helping to improve the habitat at Sheldrake! Suitable for ages 16 and up, but those under age 18 must have an adult register them to complete the waiver.

Advance registration is required. *Drop-in volunteers cannot be accommodated.*

Registration may close a day or two before each event (or sooner if space is no longer available), so register today!
