With Arbor Day on the horizon and spring well underway, April is a great time for a community tree walk! In partnership with the Town of Mamaroneck, join us for our annual Family Friendly Neighborhood Tree Walk, led by Sheldrake’s Director of Education, Jocelyn Kleinman. We’ll meet at the bridge at Hickory Grove Drive and West Brookside and walk along the scenic brook looking for all the changes that early spring brings. We’ll appreciate the beauty of the trees, as well as learn more about their contributions to our community.
Did you know that trees are the least expensive way to fight climate change? Trees protect against flooding and soil erosion; they excel at soaking up and storing excess greenhouse gasses; and they remove air pollution and provide essential oxygen. There’s probably a lot you don’t know about trees or have forgotten, so come learn or refresh your memory!
