Nature Detectives – Winter Thursdays

Keep kids active and outdoors with weekly after-school adventures at Sheldrake! School-aged children can enjoy being nature detectives as they explore Sheldrake’s habitats and observe the impact of seasonal conditions on the natural world. Our naturalist-led program provides the opportunity for STEM enrichment, connection with nature, and the company of other young enthusiasts. There’s a lot to see and do all winter!

Our Nature Detectives:

  • get first-hand experience with science and nature
  • learn about birds, insects, seeds, trees, and other natural wonders
  • enjoy the outdoors as they explore the trails of a 60-acre conservancy
  • have fun with nature games, stories, and other activities

Dates: Thursdays – January 18-March 14 (8 sessions; class doesn’t meet on 2/22)

Time: 3:30-4:30 pm

For ages: Grades K-2 (drop-off program)

Format:  This program will be conducted both outdoors and indoors. We’ll rely on our indoor classroom as the sun sets.

Fee: $175 for members, $200 for nonmembers

Cancellation Policy: In the event that Sheldrake should cancel a program, either a makeup will be scheduled or a refund will be issued. Participant cancellation requires a minimum of one week’s notice (in writing to, and a 25% cancellation fee will be charged. No refunds will be issued under other circumstances.
