Hibernate, Migrate, Insulate: Animal Adaptations for Winter

How do woodland animals cope with winter? They use very clever strategies! Let’s explore our grounds in search of clues to everyone’s whereabouts and survival methods. We might even spot an animal that flies south *to* Larchmont!

Part of the Sheldrake Second Saturday Series of free family programs, made possible by a generous grant from Con Edison.

There will be no advance registration for this program. Meet under the pavilion behind the white house at 685 Weaver Street. Parking is available at the trailhead (on the other side of the playground) or near the potting shed via the 687 Weaver St driveway. Please leave your pets at home. Be sure to check this page before heading over in case of any changes.

Update 1/9: We’re monitoring the forecast and will update this page if the weather does not appear cooperative. As of Friday, the forecast calls for rain later in the day, so we expect this program to run as planned. Note: The melted snow has resulted in mud in some sections, which can be slippery. We recommend wearing boots with good traction.
